John Prepares The Way For The Lord

Matthew 3:1-12

• John was dressed in camel hair clothes and a leather belt and ate locust and honey
• John would not baptize the Pharisees and Sadducees
• John said that Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire
• Obey Jesus the King

October 11

John Baptizes Jesus

Matthew 3:13-17

• John did not want to baptize Jesus
• The Holy Spirit looked like a dove and landed on Jesus
• God the Father said that He was pleased with His Son
• Jesus is the only hope for salvation

October 18

Satan Tempts Jesus

Matthew 4:1-11

• After Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert, Satan tempted Him three times
• God allowed Jesus to be tempted to show His perfection
• Jesus answered Satan’s temptations with Scripture
• Trust that Jesus forgives the sins of those who repent

Jesus Calls The Disciples

Matthew 4:12-25

• Jesus fulfilled prophecy when He moved to Capernaum
• Jesus told the people, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
• Jesus called Andrew, Peter, James, and John to be disciples
• Repent of your sin and submit to Jesus as Lord
