Ministry Spotlight

Megan Badiola

BADIOLA 2019

As the people of God, we’re called to be His ambassadors in this world (Matthew 28:19-20). Sometimes that means going on mission trips to a foreign country. Sometimes it means sharing the gospel with a coworker or neighbor. And sometimes it means serving the church by holding babies and telling Bible stories to children while their parents participate in corporate worship. Serving in the church is a great way to begin building relationships—with kids, parents and fellow volunteers. At Foothill, we have so many faithful volunteers who give of their time to teach the children about God and show them the love of Jesus. This month, we introduce you to one of our two year old classroom teachers.

My name is Megan Badiola. I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids: Vincent (12), Christian (9) and Eliana (5) and have been married to Fabi for 14 years this month. I graduated from Chaffey College with my x-ray certificate and University of LaVerne in Health Administration.  I was happy to only work in my field for a couple of years because my dream was to be married and stay home with my kids.

My parents were attending Upland Bible Church when I was born.  I grew up in the church and we continued attending once we merged and became Foothill Bible.  I asked Jesus into my heart as a child.  Although I strayed for a while, the Lord was always near gently leading me back. I believe my strong foundation held me firm and I was always reminded of the Truth from my Awana Bible verses and leaders and Sunday school teachers who poured so much into me.

My family left FBC when I was in high school to attend another church.  My husband and I with our three children recently returned for a visit about 5 years ago and my family now calls Foothill their church. I am so thankful I can raise my kids in a church with such solid teaching that they will always remember the verses they have hidden in their hearts.

I have been serving in children’s ministry as soon as I was old enough.  I always love working with children, especially the little ones. I love hearing them talk and sing about Jesus.  I love seeing their little hands folded in their laps as they listen to the prayer. These kids have the sweetest hearts.  This is where I love serving. I also serve in Awana Cubbies.

I grew up in Awana at FBC and it made a huge impact on my life.  I truly see how hiding God’s Word in your heart is so precious and important.  I also have a heart for missions.  It started when I did an Awana project on Daniel Poysti (a past member of FBC) and interviewed him on his time in Russia.  As a teenager I met a missionary couple named Paul and Jane Overholt who were missionaries in Brazil for 40 years.  I was able to serve alongside them in Brazil on 3 different trips and I will never forget that time and the things I learned.

I love going on fun dates with hubby and traveling with my family.  Now that the kids are a little older we try to get away more often. We enjoy camping in the summer and going to the snow in the winter.  We have been in the Plakakis small group for about 3 years now.  I am attending Bible Study Fellowship on Wednesday mornings and really enjoying the study in Acts.

Children age 6 through 6th grade will be dismissed prior to the sermon on Sunday mornings and line up outside the Worship Center where the teacher will then walk them to the Chapel.
