Foothill Institute for Theological Training

FITT is an unaccredited, non-degree granting, Bible Institute specializing in continuing education for high school graduates who desire to grow in their biblical knowledge and practical ministry skills. Classes are scheduled to meet for 1 1/2 hours weekly on Monday evenings for ten weeks.  During the academic year a student will be able to complete four classes by attending just once per week. The certificate program consists of 500 hours of classroom study covering the areas of: Hermeneutics and Bible Study Methods and Tools, Old and New Testaments Surveys, Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, Apologetics, Evangelism, Biblical Counseling and Prayer. Seasoned men who are well accomplished in their respective fields and are able to interact with students to nurture them to grow in their Christian faith, will teach the classes. These men are all presently involved full-time in other ministries and will be giving of their time in exchange for a stipend.

Our Purpose

Foothill Institute of Theological Training exists in partnership and under the authority of the local Church, as a non-degree granting school of education, primarily for lay people, to provide advanced training and equipping in biblical and doctrinal studies, as well as ministry and leadership skills, so they may be prepared to do the "work of the ministry".

Who Should Attend

Many Christians would like to be able to study the Scriptures in a deep and significant way, but due to circumstances they are unable to attend Bible college. Perhaps they came to faith later in life and their college years have come and gone. Perhaps family responsibilities or finances prevent them from serious study. Perhaps they just don't know where or how to begin. Dads, moms, grandparents, young adults - your opportunity has arrived! FITT was designed with you in mind. Any high school graduate (or equivalent) that shows a desire to learn , and is in substantial agreement with our doctrinal statement is both encouraged and welcome to study at FITT.

Academic Expectations

As with any endeavor, we get out of it in proportion to what we put in. Since studies at FITT are conducted on a college level basis, it is expected that the students will invest on average 2 hours of homework for every hour of class time. For at typical class this will amount to approximately 3 hours per week. All homework (including assigned readings) is expected to be completed according to the schedule assigned by the individual instructor.

    Costs and Expenses

Tuition for FITT is currently $90 per class. For a married couple or two or more related people living under the same roof, the tuition is $60 per person. Tuition is due prior to the beginning of a particular class. Payments must be made online or in the Book Nook, as instructors are not allowed to handle payments. Because the classes are short in nature, and commitments are made to instructors in advance, no refunds will be given for classes that are dropped, regardless of whether the student attended class or not. Books and materials will average approximately $20 per class and should be purchased from the Book Nook before the first night of class.
